438. The Unhappy Meal

San Francisco’s new ordinance prohibits fast-food restaurants from including free toys in children’s meals that do not meet specific nutritional standards. While McDonald’s has taken steps to improve the nutritional quality of its Happy Meals, reducing the amount of French fries and adding fruit, among other things, they still did not meet the standards set in the city’s regulation, and thus could not include free toys in the meals.
